MULTIFUNCTIONAL EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX AT THE V. I. DOLGIKH REGIONAL TECHNOLYCEUM

When designing the playground on the lyceum grounds, the architects sought to reflect the relationship between humanity and metals, drawing on concepts related to the role of metals in the development of civilization:
Metals shaped humanity’s very concept of "material." Through working with them, people learned to harness the unique properties of metal.

The design takes into account the following principles:
— The aesthetic appeal of metals. Metalwork is widely used in architecture and urban landscaping, serving as decorative elements, fences, sculptures, and monuments.
— The durability of metals. Metal structures are long-lasting, making them ideal as testaments to the historical development of a city, reflecting its culture and achievements across different eras.
— The influence of metals on social progress. The advent of metal tools contributed not only to technological advancement (in agriculture, construction, and crafts) but also to social progress—the formation of the first states coincided with the dawn of the Bronze Age.

The complex comprises 10 play areas.

"Cheharda" studio developed and implemented a playground project for the gymnasium’s kindergarten, as well as additional recreation zones for school students. We moved away from the ubiquitous concept where a kindergarten features small, identical playgrounds for each group. Instead, "Cheharda" created three thematic playgrounds, each distinct in its content and visual design.

These spaces feature swings, slides, stumps, and logs for active play, alongside educational and scientific elements, musical instruments, tactile walls, floor-based tactile features, and cozy shelters for hiding and resting.

We carefully considered the unique characteristics and needs of children across different age groups, incorporating elements that encourage various types of activities and movements essential for a child’s brain development. This aligns with the principles of the neurodynamic approach and the latest discoveries in neuropsychology. As a result, we created a developmental environment where children do not get bored: they can take turns exploring different playgrounds, engaging in something new each time.

To delineate the spaces for different groups, the area is zoned using open canopies that do not obstruct children’s movement, as well as landscaped earthworks.
