SBER CITY

Moscow 2024

SberCity, Moscow, Kuntsevo, Rublevo-Arkhangelskoye
The play space is located within the innovative "SberCity" residential complex, Quarter B10. The overall project encompasses residential and commercial areas surrounded by parks and forests. When designing the children’s play space, we had to address the functional use of a rather compact area of 150 sq. m., while also achieving a harmonious integration of the play structures into the architectural environment of the residential complex.

As a result, we developed a space for toddlers that is safe and engaging for both children and their parents. The play zone for older children features a tall play tower with a slide, trampolines, swings for various age groups, and a sandbox with a pouring station. We drew inspiration from natural design and the Moscow urban context.

Consequently, the main elements are crafted from natural logs, which create artistic forms and patterns. Set against the backdrop of modern architecture, this approach creates a stunning contrast, making the playground truly unique and vibrant.

SEA SERPENT

St. Petersburg 2023

The "Sea Serpent" playground in the residential complex (Bonava) area reflects the harmony between modernity and the spirit of Scandinavian legends. Inspired by Jörmungandr from Scandinavian mythology, it serves as a symbol of strength and grandeur, much like the mythical serpent that wraps around the world. The principles of the residential complex here evolve into a concept of a close-knit community, where the uniqueness of the neighborhood is reflected in every facade and environment, creating a space that caters to the needs of diverse social groups.

A wide range of public spaces offers opportunities for interaction and inspiration, prioritizing pedestrians and cultivating an atmosphere steeped in the best traditions of Sweden. Abundant greenery and a diverse landscape on the site establish a strong connection with nature, imbuing the place with an atmosphere of marine power and an aquatic vibe that resonates with the legends of Scandinavian mythology.

The playground includes: 1 play complex, impact-absorbing surfaces, and landscape elements.

THE HORN PLAYGROUND IN THE "JAZZ" RESIDENTIAL COMPLEX

Moscow 2022

Concept and architectural supervision: Megabudka studio Design and construction: Cheharda studio
The playground is inspired by the name of the residential complex in which it is located. It is the first children’s space in Moscow where, thanks to complex technical solutions, a musical concept and a modern approach to children’s physical and intellectual development have seamlessly converged.

Toddlers will find Caribbean white sand, a tactile wall, and various shape sorters here, while older children will discover horizontal nets and installations with optical and musical effects. We have also included slides, an active play zone, trampolines, and vine-like ropes for teenagers up to 14 years old.

The central play element is a year-round, bell-shaped slide. Children’s slides of this scale are quite rare. By bringing an experienced campanologist—a specialist in bell making—onto the project team, we managed to make it not only visually striking but also maximally safe for children.

All play elements form a single, cohesive route. By navigating it, children gain new experiences, develop communication skills, hone their agility, and experience positive emotions.

Area: 450 m² includes: a multifunctional play art object and impact-absorbing surfaces.

DNA MOLECULE

Izhevsk 2022

The discovery of the DNA molecule’s structure marked the beginning of a new era in the history of medicine, biology, and science as a whole. Realizing the scale of this discovery’s impact on all of humanity inspired us to create the central play structure for the children’s playground in the "Znak" residential complex in Izhevsk.

A white DNA molecule, formed by two intertwined metal ribbons, wraps around the entire playground.
This recognizable, unobtrusive image turns the Molecule into an art object, while the designers have also preserved its functional component: it is a comprehensive structure equipped with swings, a climbing wall, a slide, climbing elements, rope tunnels, and hammocks.

The play elements are designed to stimulate a child’s brain development through diverse movements during play. The complex is situated on artificially created hills, which offer even more engaging play opportunities, and in front of them lies a vast sandy "lake."

Area: 465 m² includes: 1 play complex with a slide and swings, 1 sandbox, impact-absorbing surfaces, and landscape elements.

THE LIZARD

Yekaterinburg 2020

The location itself suggested the theme for the natural playground in the "Skazka" (Fairy Tale) residential complex. Although lizards can be found in many parts of Russia, the most poetic image is associated specifically with the Urals: in Pavel Bazhov’s tales, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain would transform into a lizard.

We designed the main play structure of the complex in the image of this animal. The 6-meter tower represents the lizard’s head, the rope bridges form its winding body and tail, and the supports made of naturally shaped trees resemble its paws.

As is characteristic of "Cheharda," the imagery is understated, indirect, and filtered through our unique artistic vision. When you enter the playground, it is not immediately obvious that a lizard has curled into a circle.
To some, the play complex will resemble a cave with paths leading to it, while for others, it is a real mountain to be conquered (but only from the inside, absolutely not from the outside). Whatever the child imagines on the playground, an exciting play journey awaits them!

The "Lizard" features abundant beautiful wood. The head is constructed from peeled larch poles, while the supports for the rope bridges and swings are made of oak, preserving its natural, unaltered geometry. These natural forms and textures harmonize with the urban environment, allowing visitors to feel closer to nature even in a metropolis, despite being on a playground built… on the roof of a parking garage.

The playground includes: 3 play complexes, impact-absorbing surfaces, and landscape elements.
