Who We Are and What We Do
We are "Chekharda Bureau" studio, a creative union of two architects, Daria Bychkova and Maria Pomelova. We create natural playgrounds that bridge the nature deficit for urban children and adults, fostering a deep love for the natural world. We believe that raising a compassionate and well-rounded individual is only possible in a natural environment, and we strive to create exactly that kind of environment in our play spaces.
We implement play space projects in urban and country parks, public squares and gardens, residential complex courtyards, and along waterfronts. We also design interiors for kindergartens and children's clubs. We build turnkey spaces: we develop the core idea and concept, handle the design, manufacture, and installation of the equipment, and, when necessary, assist with ongoing maintenance and operation.
Our favorite material is wood. A distinguishing feature of our projects is the use of trees in their natural form, preserving their original knots and branches. We know how to work with this material: we craft it into play art objects that amaze people, and into play structures that strictly comply with all safety standards and regulations. Every space we create is seamlessly integrated into the surrounding landscape, whether it is a park, a square, or a courtyard, becoming a natural developmental environment for children of all ages.
