Educational activities
Our educational activities help us share our values and connect with like-minded people, while also inspiring us with new ideas. We do more than just impart theoretical knowledge and share our experience; we teach students to apply what they learn immediately and bring their ideas to life through hands-on work with materials.
Construction of playgrounds in collaboration with professional architects
In 2019, at the invitation of Vicente Guallart—Barcelona’s former chief architect—Daria Bychkova, co-founder of Bureau Chekharda, led an intensive four-week course at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) titled "Wild Nature: Designing and Building with Trees of Natural, Unaltered Form." The collaborative effort of 18 architects from 10 countries resulted in the creation of a ten-meter-tall climbing structure in the Serra de Collserola Natural Park, located on the outskirts of Barcelona. The journey began back in 2017 at a public spaces workshop in Vladivostok, where Bureau Chekharda architects mentored a group of students developing a site that included a children's play area.
Building architectural structures with children
In 2018–2019, together with children, we designed and built the "Lighthouse Seekers" installation and the adjacent children's playground on the banks of the Moskva River in Nikolina Gora. We also built a play zone for the "Green School" in Gorky Park.
Why do we do this? Through our projects, children learn to understand space, think through details, work with their hands, take responsibility for their decisions, and, of course, experience the tangible results of their labor.
We give children a unique opportunity to participate in building not just temporary models, but real, enduring structures that will stand for years to come. Children who take part in our builds develop a deep sense of ownership, actively helping to maintain and care for these architectural spaces long after construction is complete.
